The Best Areas in Sarasota Real Estate

October 26, 2011

The real estate market in Sarasota, Florida is making a fantastic comeback.  Several years ago when the housing market took a dramatic downturn, most property buyers backed away from the real estate market for a while.  Now once again, real estate in Sarasota is on the go.  Long known as one of South Florida’s most desired areas, with its pristine beaches, near-perfect weather, and more than 80 spectacular golf courses, have the buyers flocking back in full force.   In 2010 Sarasota was named “Best Place to Retire” in the nation and once again Siesta Key made the “Top 10 Best Beaches” list making this area a very desirable place to live for people from all over the country.

Sarasota is an ever-changing destination.  The barrier islands of Siesta Key, Anna Marie Island, Holmes Beach, Longboat Key and Lido Key have the highest quality white sand beaches in the world.  Sarasota is a cozy community and even through it does not have the Tampa stadium or a Disney theme park, it is one of the less hectic and more relaxing cities in Florida.  It is abundant with culture, entertainment events, fine restaurants along with  just about anything the bigger more hectic areas have to offer.  It is also home to 3 very historic landmark entertainment sites.   There is the Van Wezel Theater which has been host to talent such as Bill Cosby and Johnny Cash.  Dating back to the 1920s, the Ringling museum is host to European, Asian and American quality works.  Sarasota has been home to the Sailor Circus for over 60 years and is known as “the greatest little show on earth”.  In addition to those attractions, Sarasota is home to Asolo Theater, Sarasota Orchestra, Florida West Coast Symphony, Sarasota Opera House, as well as 30 independent theaters.

Sarasota is nicknamed the “crown jewel” of the South.  It is located 45 miles south of Tampa on the west coast of Florida.  Sarasota, along with its barrier islands has the right home for just about anyone’s personal preference and budget.  Mainland Sarasota has everything from single-family homes to large elaborate mansions in gated communities or country club communities with golf courses, as well as town homes and new luxury high rise condos right downtown.  There is also a large variety of condominiums on Lido Key, Longboat Key, Siesta Key, and Anna Marie Island.  In addition, the barrier islands are home to an abundance of large estates that are hidden away in natural tropical landscape designs for the ultimate in privacy. Some of the waterfront communities provide fishing docks, yacht clubs and deep water marinas.  The Lakewood Ranch area is full of new construction of just about any type of home you might desire.  Lakewood Ranch is also the site of a world class golf course surrounded by ten neighborhoods containing condos and homes in a wide variety of prices and sizes.

Many buyers have attempted to time the property market with lower interest rates, lower prices and a good inventory of homes, condos, townhouses and villas.  This just might be the right time to take advantage of all the opportunities.  The real estate market in the Sarasota area has limitless possibilities, and possibly the place you might wish to call home, either in the future or right now.
